What SNR 25 dB means in practice

• Reduces noise exposure by approximately 25 dB when worn correctly
• Example: 95 dB worksite noise becomes ~70 dB (95 – 25)
• At 100 dB, effective exposure ˜ 75 dB
• Important rule: If measured noise minus 25 dB still exceeds 85 dB, additional protection is required

Where SNR 25 dB is NOT sufficient alone

• Heavy stamping or fabrication above 105–110 dB
• Mining drilling and intense impact noise
• High continuous noise: Dual protection or higher attenuation needed

How to choose – Earmuff vs Earplug

• Same SNR = same rated protection. A 25 dB earplug is not stronger than a 25 dB earmuff on paper.
• Choose earplugs when: Workforce is trained and heat/comfort are priorities.
• Choose earmuffs when: Fit discipline is uncertain or quick on/off use is needed.
• Noise above 110 dB: Dual protection may be required.

Care and maintenance
